The Flourish Integrative Team:
Dr. Sarah Scharf, PScD
Dr. Sarah Scharf is the co-founder of Apex Functional Medicine in the San Francisco Bay area and is passionately devoted to educating her community about health and wellness. Dr. Scharf received her doctorate from LifeWest Chiropractic College in 2006.
Although her original training is in chiropractic, Dr. Scharf has devoted her career to continued learning in order to help her patients even more. FUNCTIONAL Wellness more appropriately describes what they do at Apex Functional Medicine. Dr. Scharf also sees some major downfalls in the future of American health care. As a result, she has joined the PMA (Pastoral Medical Association) and is utilizing the Member Share Agreement to make sure that no one’s care is compromised in any way.
Not only is Dr. Scharf a gifted doctor and educator, she is also friendly, perceptive and passionate. She enjoys volunteering her time to enrich her community by providing valuable information that will enable families to live and enjoy life to the fullest. In addition to her growing family practice, she considers herself to be doubly blessed with her loving partner and child (Graham).
Outside of the practice, Dr. Scharf enjoys being very active with her family and community. On the weekends she enjoys hiking, swimming, and playing tennis.
Jennifer Meredith, CNC, PScD
Committed to working within the theories and practices of Functional Medicine, Jennifer focuses on discovering the root cause of your health challenges, instead of adopting a one-size-fits-all approach. Behind all of her work lie three key principles:
- Each person has the unique capability to heal and thrive
- You cannot heal without looking at why (in functional medicine we call this “swimming upstream”)
- And you can never forget to ask “What’s going on in there?”
Jennifer studied holistic nutrition while attending Bauman College to receive Certification as a Nutrition Educator (CNE), which allowed her to become Certified as a Nutrition Counselor (CNC) with the National Association of Nutrition Practitioners.
Jennifer is a researcher and continual student with ongoing post-graduate education from the Integrative Health Symposium, the Institute for Functional Medicine, the Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice Training and a focus on key subjects, such as Mastering Functional Blood Chemistry, Mastering the Thyroid, and The Gluten, Leaky Gut, Autoimmune Connection with the renowned Dr. Datis Kharrazian.
